Canada Revenue Agency has changed the tax payers’ authorization policy recently. Under the new rule,
the tax payers have to have an online account with CRA through which they would authorize their
Accountants /Tax Preparers. Accountants /Tax Preparers can also ask/request authorization from their
clients through their own representative account.
This new rule might slow the tax filing process because a lot of tax payers do not have online account
with CRA. Thousands of tax payers even does not know /aware what it is. A tax payer may need to visit
multiple times to the Accountant’s office in order to complete his/her tax returns and the
Accountants/Tax Preparers need more time too. So, the tax filing might be costlier than before in the
hands of the tax payers.
We recommend to make the procedure easier minimizing the risks by adopting alternate method.
